My Aching Feet

People have this cracked notion that immortal beings don't feel pain. I don't know which small minded critter started that rumor, but I feel inclined to put this one thing to rights. As part of my duties, as a servant to Mother Terees, I have the opportunity to travel... a lot.

I think I've walked nearly every deci-span of Cathall. Though I don't remember every kingdom, I've distinct memories of Feywick, Kezia, Solaris, Zonga, and Gilmore.

Here's just a partial list of some places I've been in the last few thousand seasons.
Mountains: Rolan Mountains (in Kezia, Cathall, if I remember correctly)
Cathall: Lightcrest, Feywick; Traddlebow (Greater Gilmore); Linthur's Point (Elber); Castle Borgan (Kezia); Blue Elm (Feywick); Elber Plains (Surgog);

Toberna: Library of Hobala;

Whoops, I'll have to continue later, Mother calls...

Interesting People I've Met

Countless opportunities to meet interesting people is just one perk of immortality.
I've met all types:
Brave types such as - Nina Tevrin (Princess Katarina's daughter),
Brooding types such as - Driskil Forlorn, Raven,
Clumsy types such as - Zacharius McDade,
Compassionate types such as - Frostleaf (the healer dragon),
Favored of the Mothers types such as - Sara Dragonmist,
Fiery types such as - Princess Katarina Calis,
Intelligent types such as - Jaedin Tienore and Jira Tienore (the potion makers)
Privileged types such as - Princess Gallea Serad (of Gold Gallea fame),
Sad types such as - Queen Diana Calis (Princess Katarina's mother),
Strong types such as - Minuette Fericina (a Keritan Ranger), Kyle Keritan (founder of the Keritan Rangers),
Talented types such as - Merdan Prince Trivan,
Unshakable types such as - Aislinn Ronat (Grace Spirit to Mother Siberlee),

Yes, I realize all of these are mostly members of my own Race, but it's late and I can't think of many more who do not belong to the Race of Man.

Immortal, Not Undead

Members of the Shadow Guard cannot be killed, but we can still experience pain. I wish to the Mothers that weren't so, life would be so much simpler that ways. Anyways, the proper term for "non-killable beings" is immortal, not undead. The next person who screams and calls me undead is going to eat shadow dust for a week.

See, whenever someone says Undead, I'm thinking of Father Barak's race of immortal gloomy, soul-sucking doom-bringers. Some of them can hold a decent conversation, but most make blood-sucking leeches seem friendly. Be especially wary if you go near the Crystal Caves, for the Undead like to hang out there.

Becoming Shadow

I used to fear shadows, now I pretty much am one. I can no longer call the purest forms of Light home, nor can I call deepest dark home. I draw strength and comfort from those semi-dark places called shadows.

Tell me, what comforts you? Whom do you serve? I serve Terees, Mother of Wisdom and Harmony, bringer and keeper of balance, the task once left to Father Linthur. But now, Linthur only thinks of revenge, his sense of balance turned purely to retribution.

Introduction to me, try number four

I'm a scribe, not a techy!

Greetings, I am Arleas Kaedani, scribe, Disciple, immortal Shadow Guard. Anyways, you'll probably hear a lot from me, as I've plenty of time to kill while training my Quinshards (sub-disciples).

(Out of Character: I am Julie: Biology teacher, life-long student, writer, poet, shower-singer. Most of my fantasy stories are written for the Legends of Mernac. Come on over and enjoy some free fantasy reading, enter the free contests, or just gaze at the wonderful art going up there every day. Did I mention it's all free? We welcome all level of writers and artists, and the forums there are great for work-shopping stories. BTW, I'm not that great with tech...as this being my 4th try at this dern blog. Hopefully, I'll be IC a lot, but occasionally I may have to rant and rave about some RW - real world - issue.)

I shall expound on who and what the Shadow Guard is when the time is right. Terees, Mother of Wisdom and Harmony, shall tell me when such a time comes to pass. Until then, sit back, relax, read something nice, and don't touch my scrolls. If you do, I'll have to beam you with the broad side of my shadow-sword.
